Educational Grant supports students

Open to all individuals leaving secondary education for further or higher education or training, GTC offers an Educational Grant up to a maximum of £300 per year. It must be claimed against actual expenditure and is intended for books, equipment, tools or other direct costs relevant to a student’s course.

Over the years, these grants have proved invaluable for those undertaking a course leading to a formal qualification. Here are what some recipients said:

"Thank you so much for the Education Grant. It has really benefitted me during my time at university.  I wouldn’t have been able to write a dissertation and pursue my love for Jamaican poetry without help purchasing the anthologies."  (JB)

"I am writing to thank you for the Education Grant cheque that I recently received. As an English Literature student, I greatly appreciate this help with paying for the large amount of books I have to buy.  It's really great to know that I can receive this kind of help from the Charity in the Village in which I grew up." (JR)

"The Grant was a significant contribution towards the purchase of a laptop which has proven to be vital during my first year at university studying Natural Sciences. I’m very grateful to GTC because financial pressures as a student are rather significant, so it makes a real difference to receive this help for educational expenses." (ES)
