Proposed plans intended to provide homes for over 55s with connections to Girton are currently under review.
Accommodation has been designed to meet the future needs of the elderly to allow for extended independent living. All rooms are large enough for easy wheelchair access and bathrooms are equipped as wet rooms.
Homes will have their own front door. Internal layout includes a master bedroom and small second room, open plan living/kitchen/dining area with access to a small private garden on the ground floor and communal landscaped gardens.
Mobility scooter parking and car parking places for most homes are proposed, in addition to two parking spaces for the GTC office.
The gardens are designed to be the centre of this community with small individual areas for ground floor accommodation and communal spaces. Neighbouring gardens will be screened with hedging and trees.
The new building will replace six bungalows in Michael's Close, in addition to the current GTC office, which were all built in the 1930s and 1960s and no longer provide adequate accommodation, in terms of comfort, energy-efficiency and modern facilities.
